When you submit an application for a film slot to Film Metropolis you must agree to our rules and regulations laid out below: Definitions The term ‘film’ means documentary, drama or comedy film or video. Film Metropolis full name is Film Metropolis 18 Festival. Dates for Film Metropolis, which takes place in TBD, are from Wednesday 22nd September to Thursday 23rd or September 2018. Film Submission Criteria Film Metropolis is open to all sectors of film production. We encourage submissions from independent filmmakers, established or debut filmmakers, co-operatives, distributors, media institutions and education institutions. You must meet the following criteria in order to submit your film to Film Metropolis 2018:
- Your film should be less than 20 minutes duration including credits.
- You must have completed your online Film Submission form, which includes the Vimeo upload of your film, in order for Film Metropolis to view your film online. Links to films sent via email will not be accepted. It has to be downloadable.
- Submitted Films must have English dialogue or English subtitles. Transcripts to films cannot be accepted.
- A publicity photograph that represents the film well – this may be used online or in our printed materials. Please ensure it is a minimum of 500 x 500 pixels and no larger than 1MB.
- Confirmation that you, as the person submitting the film, has full authorization to grant Film Metropolis permission to screen the film.
- Confirmation that all third party copyright within the film was cleared for our purpose of screening and publicizing. (ie music, stills, video, literary extracts, artwork etc)
- Filmmakers are encouraged to submit documentaries completed after 1 June 2015 but films made before this date are still eligible for consideration.
- Films that were previously submitted to Film Metropolis and declined for the program are discouraged from re-submitting. If substantial structural changes have been made to the film, please contact us on info@filmmetropolis.com to discuss.
- All copyright holders for the Film agree to allow Film Metropolis to use a maximum of 20% of the material in advertising and publicity without compromising or giving away the story/plot.
- All copyright holders for the Film agree to allow Film Metropolis to include said Film in Film Metropolis curated programs provided to partner festivals in the US and abroad for inclusion in their festival screening program under the banner of Film Metropolis. You also agree to allow Film Metropolis to screen your film at any Film Metropolis events held outwith the festival in June.
- You must complete an online submission form in order to be considered for screening at Film Metropolis. Your Film will not be viewed if do not complete a submission form.
- There is no fee to submit your film.
- The online submission form must be completed and the Film uploaded by the current closing date stated on the Film Metropolis website. We will not accept entries after this date .
- We prefer Films to be submitted by Vimeo. Please read the submissions criteria sections above.
- If in special circumstances you cannot upload your film to Vimeo by the closing date please get in touch at info@filmmetropolis.com to discuss options.
- Before any decisions are made please note that all submitted films are viewed by members of the Film Metropolis programming team as well as the Programming Director.
- The primary contact listed in your submission form will be contacted about the status of your entry. Successful Films we hope to notify by 8th August and if you were unsuccessful we will notify you shortly after this.
